Emo Night Tampa reviews
It was fine, just not really emo
Energy was great, but there really weren't many emo tracks played. It was more like a Van's Warped Tour. I understand the point is to engage and have everyone sing along but there are plenty songs that would fit the bill a bit better. Either that, or just call it pop punk night to be more clear in the advertising.
Artists and staff are good and professional as always. Some recommendations though for this show:
-Circa Survive: Get Out
-Senses Fail: Can't be Saved
-The Used: Pretty Handsome Awkward
-Anberlin: Paperthin Hymn
-Saosin: Voices
-American Football: Never Meant
-AFI: Miss Murder
-Avenged Sevenfold: Bat Country (We're in OC and you didn't play this?)
I would say Brand New too but I understand they're canceled.
Anyways, thanks for the coupon. See ya at Drab Majesty :)

Overpriced/Overcrowded
We came here for a friend's birthday, had a group of about 30 people. When we got to the venue at 9pm (doors opened at 8 pm I think?) it was already PACKED, like you couldn't walk. So obviously they over sold. Cool whatever, we go upstairs and find a nice spot in the corner, decide this is where we are going to be standing. In front of us were probably like 2 rows of 10 chairs, we thought oh coo lets stand right here....yeah no. Security quickly came up and told us this was "VIP". Mind you, we had been standing in this area for about 45 minutes at this point and not 1 soul walked by for "VIP". When we asked, they told us we could purchase a $10 dollar ticket and stand there. Again, we had a large group, were spending money at the bar AND there was NO ROOM downstairs because the venue is greedy and oversold. Ended up buying a few VIP passes so we could stand there but overall, I felt like they were just looking for an easy dollar. I used to love the Observatory, but the last fiew visists have just been meh. I will only go to this venue if it's the only stop on the tour.
Not As Advertised.
This event was advertised as a live band or live bands covering mainstream and well known emo bands. Instead This was just a DJ playing all the songs at a high volume with the occasional remix sounded like a house song what's really confused a majority of the crowd. For the first 2 hours, my friend and I felt very awkward because there was no live band and no good songs playing. It really just feels like I paid to listen to Emo music with really loud speakers. Nothing about this really felt special and thats coming from someone who is a professional event planner. I really want to be reimbursed for this.
